Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi
Hi! My name is Margaret, and I'm an artist/musician/math and economics enjoyer/writer based in Boston, MA. A fun fact about me is that I've never not lived next to the coast. Another fun fact is that I was born on pi day. A third fun fact is that I moved to the U.S. because I fell in love with frozen yogurt. Now what if I told you these were two truths and a lie? (jk, they are all truths as far as I know.)
As an MIT undergraduate, I double majored in course 18 (Math) and course 6-14 (CS/Econ/Data Sci) with a minor in 21M (Music), though I sometimes wished that I had double majored in eating and sleeping instead (like a certain plump beaver that I draw sometimes). I stayed at MIT for another year and a master's degree in 6-14, during which I got to do some research on education topics in economics, teach econometrics/game theory, and continue doing art :D
I've loved creating art for as long as I can remember, but it was not until my college years that I finally started to see it as a powerful voice and a game-changer that brightens the world and brings smiles to people’s faces. Because of this, I’ve been actively involved in many of MIT’s public art projects, art organizations, and independently-run STEM and wellness art accounts, sharing the joy of the colorful palettes in my head and hands.
Art makes me happy, but so do many other things: piano improvisation, writing songs, poetry, and stories, exploring random math facts, pondering complexity theory questions, drawing econometrics comics, and baking π without a recipe. It feels like there's as much to life as the cardinalities of infinities, and I’m here for all of it through the rain and shine.
Thank you for visiting this space where I put forth my best efforts to consolidate my interests, hobbies, and projects. If you would like to follow my life in comic form, check out @marge_z_art on Instagram!
HAVE FUN and hope that you are having a great day!
